Our story
As a pivotal electricity market operator, Borzen has played a crucial role in shaping the energy market landscape in Slovenia. Over two decades ago, the company made a resolute commitment to the market and its stakeholders, laying the foundations for a liberalized and unified electricity market. The official opening of the Slovenian electricity market took place on April 15, 2001. In the same year, trading transitioned to an electronic platform, marking a significant departure from the previous practice of weekly in-person market meetings.
Borzen's founding not only marked the inception of the first Slovenian power exchange but also paved the way for transformative changes. In 2008, the responsibility for this role shifted to Borzen's subsidiary, BSP Energy Exchange, where we maintained a stakeholder position until December 2022.
Presently, as the market operator, Borzen is instrumental in ensuring the stable operation of the Slovenian electricity system and fostering transparency within the electricity market. Moreover, the company actively supports the transition towards a low-carbon society.
We extend our gratitude to all those individuals who have contributed, both past and present, to co-shaping Borzen's impactful journey.
