For the first time, a new model for calculating imbalance prices was applied, using a single price in each accounting interval, regardless of the imbalance direction. In this way, the Market Operator successfully implemented the requirements of the European guidelines on electricity balancing, the ACER decision on harmonisation of the main features of the imbalance settlement and the Slovenian Electricity Supply Act. The new imbalance settlement model implements the main purpose of the imbalance settlement process, namely it ensures the coverage of the costs for balancing the electricity system and encourages members to achieve the highest level of balancing, while at the same time it also ensures the simplicity of the model to the highest possible extent, and, above all, the fundamental purpose of the guidelines, i.e. the harmonisation of the process within the EU.
