Trading on the Platform for Balancing Energy is implemented through a platform for collecting purchase and sale bids for electricity through which the System Operator (ELES) buys and sells electricity intended for the settlement of imbalances in the electricity system. Trading on the platform for the balancing energy is carried out together with Intra-day trading, and further on, one hour/*half an hour after the closure of the Intra-day trading and until actual supply of the product. All companies included in the Balance Scheme of the electricity market and which acceded to trading on the Platform for the Balancing Energy and intra-day trading can participate in trading.

* It applies from 13 January 2026 for the delivery day of 14 January 2026.

Trading Schedule

Trading on the Platform for Balancing Energy is carried out 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and at most one day in advance. Trading with hourly, 15-minute, base-load and peak-load products is enabled.

15-minute, Hourly, Base-load and Peak-load Products

15-minute, hourly, base-load, and peak-load products are available for trading from 15:00 p.m. each day before the start of actual supply. Entry and concluding transactions with these products are possible up to the start of actual supply.

Implementation of Platform for Balancing Energy

In implementing the Platform for Balancing Energy, Borzen co-operates with the BSP SouthPool energy exchange, which offers a trading platform for the implementation of the Platform for balancing energy with all necessary functionalities.

Clearing and Financial Settlement of Transactions Concluded on the Platform for Balancing Energy

Clearing and Financial Settlement of claims and liabilities arising from the Platform for Balancing Energy is carried out by the Clearing Agent. Clearing Agent is liable for the fulfilment of financial liabilities for transactions concluded on the Platform for Balancing Energy in the scope of submitted and redeemable financial guarantees.

Publication of General Rules for Public Auctions for the Sale of Electricity Produced at TEŠ and the Purchase of Emission Allowances for TEŠ

We inform interested participants in public auctions for the sale of electricity produced by the company Termoelektrarna Šoštanj d.o.o. (TEŠ) and for the purchase of emission allowances for the operation of TEŠ that we have published the General Rules for Public Auctions on our website. These rules will apply to all future public auctions conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Act on Transitional Financing of the Accelerated and Just Coal Phase-out (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 109/2024, dated 20 December 2024).

By the end of 2025, three additional auction rounds are planned, the first likely already at the end of August or the beginning of September.

To participate in public auctions, a one-time registration is required for each type of auction (electricity sale or emission allowance purchase). Interested participants are encouraged to submit the registration form as soon as possible. Once confirmed, the registration will be valid for all future auctions.

How to Register:
  1. Complete the appropriate registration form:
  1. The form must be signed by the legal representative of the company.
  2. If the form is signed by an authorised representative, please include the power of attorney signed by the legal representative.
  3. Send the completed and signed form:
    • by post to: Borzen d.o.o., Dunajska cesta 156, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia,
    • or by email to: avkcije@borzen.si (the form must be signed with a qualified electronic signature).

After receiving your registration documentation, we will notify you of the successful registration or any required amendments within three business days.

FRIENDLY TIP: The first auction round under the newly published General Rules is expected to take place in the coming weeks. We strongly encourage interested participants to submit their registration forms as soon as possible. Once registered, you will be eligible to participate in all future auctions by simply providing the required financial guarantees in due time.
